Oh, Florence! How much I love this city! I’m always happy when I go back. I fell in love from the first time I walked on its streets. I love places that have an incredible history. I love the Italian way of life. I love the food. I love the people. I love the architecture. I mean, it really is my idea of paradise.
I visit Florence almost every year and I am excited to be there everytime. I can’t get enough of all the things this city has to offer. The energy is simply amazing. And a lot of great/ genius pleople were born in Florence: Dante, da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Machiavelli, the Medici Family, etc, so it’s impossible not to like this city or to get bored, because there a lot of things to do and discover.
If you arrive by train, the first thing you will see is the Church of Santa Maria Novella. It’s one of the oldest church in Florence, a work of art in and of itself.
Piazza del Duomo is a very nice place to stroll, take pictures, have a drink or meal. So much history and architectural wonders in one place. Home of the Cathedral (Duomo), Giotto’s Bell Tower (Campanile di Giotto) and the Baptistery.
Next is Piazza della Signoria. A great place to stop if you enjoy art. Excellent sculptures, including both originals and copies. The Palazzo Vecchio building makes this square even more special. This place is very much well worth seeing. The place holds three different museums which I higly recommand. The power and influence of the Medici family is written all over it. Magnificent artwork. But the best part is the view from the tower! Climb up some narrow stairs and you are treated to a view of Florence from different directions.
After spending a lot of time in this amazing museum, it was time for some gelato.
The Ponte Vecchio is one of many must stroll places in Florence – and as such is almost always busy.
Every year I take new pictures of this city, I have so many now, but one in particular is my favorite. It’s from 2 years ago when I traveled with my dog and my mum took us a picture, on Ponte Vecchio.
If you enjoy a good walk with a great view, this is the place to go. You just can’t miss this place while visiting Florence. Standing in the Piazzale Michelangelo, watching the sun set over the Arno River is something to behold. This is the best place to sit and relax! I love it!
One of the great joys of traveling through Italy is discovering that it is, indeed, a dream destination. So if you want to travel, make sure to put Florence on your list. You won’t regret it.
Have a nice week!
