Civita- the dying city

Civita di Bagnoregio is a small Italian hill town in the province of Viterbo, in central Italy.  It’a an amazing, unique city, like those great places where only noblemen lived or like something out of a good story book.

Beautiful views all around the town, and many beautiful buildings everywhere. It only takes a few hours to walk down every street and walkway, but it’s amazing.

The only connection to the city is a long foot bridge. (Wear good walking shoes, and take along some water. The walk is pretty intense, especially on a hot day, but well worth it). The entrance is a huge stone passageway, cut by the Etruscans 2,500 years ago and decorated in the 12th century with a Romanesque arch. Passing through the portal, you enter another world — one stuck in the Middle Ages.

If you are planning a trip to Italy, or you are looking for some new places to visit, this city is amazing.

Have a nice week,
