Brussels: favorite spots in town

A month ago I was traveling to Brussels for the first time. I wanted a long holiday, so I decided to stay here for awhile. I fell in love instantly because it has so many beautiful places. I know I wrote some posts about this city, but I decided to make a list of my favorite spots. Even if you are planning to stay only a few days here, these are the places you must see.

WHAT TO VISIT:

1.Grand Place

A unique mix of beautiful 17th century architecture and modern social life. It’s a must see in Brussels, simply stunnig.

2. National Basilica of the Sacred Heart

It’s amazing. The massive brick and concrete reinforced church features two thin towers and a green copper dome that rises 89 metres above the ground, dominating the northwestern skyline of Brussels.

5. Place Poelaert

Great place to spend a few minutes, to relax and enjoy the view. You will be surprised with the panoramic view that is on offer.

6. Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium

The collection of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium covers a period extending from the 15th to the 21st centuries. It provides a vast overview of western art, with remarkable ensembles of works of artists from Belgium or from the former Southern Netherlands.

7. The church of our Lady of Laeken

The church was built around 1275 in early brabantical gothic style. Later, a German architect designed the facade and the tower ( 99 metres). However, the work was never completed and the church is still the same as it was a hundred years ago. Although never classified the population considers it as a historical monument as it is the necropolis of the royal family and the church where Cardinal Cardijin is buried.DSCF4965

8. Parks

There are so many beautiful parks in this city ( Parc Royal, Tenbosch Park, Cinquantenaire, Parc Leopold). So many places you can relax on the grass, on a bench, or just walking and admiring the beauty.
